Welcome to my blog,
I started this blog in 2010 as a way to improve my writing, to write something fun and to educate myself about blogging along the way. I have really enjoyed the experience and hope that it has been of interest to those who have stumbled across my posts.
Originally I set myself a challenge to read a book a week, however, it is evident that I never quite achieved that although I had a lot of fun along the way. I have decided that I no longer want to be constrained by that goal and will make 2012 a year of experimentation. I will still blog book reviews, but I may digress into other areas of interest also. This blog will change and evolve as the year passes, so pop back periodically to see what I have changed and give me your feedback.
I live in sunny Adelaide, South Australia. Married to a wonderful man (who thinks I should write a book) and we have 3 gorgeous children and 1 budgie, who all keep us teetering on the brink of sanity/insanity.
Some history on why This Blog?
The inspiration for this blog came from a tweet I read when I first ventured on to twitter, late in 2009 (I cant believe it has been that long). I thought it was a brilliant challenge to set myself as I had neglected my reading for pleasure whilst studying and working. I am happy to say that now as a working mum, I am finding so much more time to relax and read at night and not be constantly torn between reading for academia or reading for pleasure. Such freedom…
I belong to a fabulous book club, well we call ourselves a book club…we didn’t fit the criteria for the local library! However, we don’ t care and embrace the uniqueness of our book club. Essentially we come with many books that we have read and share them, with recommendations etc. We have only read 1 book the same and we are proud of it! But crucially we all love books and can talk about them for hours….
This blog is somewhat an extension of those conversations, it will also be a place where I will blog about books that are of interest to me and maybe even you? You may be able to map where my life is heading just by reading my reviewed books as I usually pick books that best reflect where I am at that moment….or where I am escaping from!
I hope you enjoy your visit and always love to hear your thoughts on the books I’ve read.
